When you are home all day with your toddler, plan some activities so your toddler can be engaged and busy at home. (You also may have to do some laundry or take care of another sibling, so lets keep your energetic toddler occupied.) Rotate different types of play and activities.
Play with cars in a toy carwash (such as Melissa & Doug’s carwash) or Play firefighter with firetrucks with a siren (with you asking for help with a pretend fire and your toddler coming to the rescue).
Pick your activity based on your toddler’s mood, energy level, and usual meal and nap times. If your toddler seems energetic, play chase or hide and seek in the living room. If your toddler seems tired, sit down with him or her and open a book. Keep your toddler occupied the whole day, so he or she has no time to whine. Your content toddler will be ready for bath and bedtime after a full day of fun at home.
